Compliance Officer – Consumer Finance

Location: Central London

Salary: up to £30k + bonus / benefits incl. share options

 

We are delighted to offer a very unique and exciting Compliance Officer opportunity to join a relatively small, dynamic, innovative and fast-growing Consumer Finance lender.  If you enjoy working in a truly customer-focused business but want something different than the usual Retail Banking environment, then this is an opportunity for you. Our client is a peer-to-peer lender, a relatively new concept and heading for huge growth over the coming years on the back of impressive growth already.

 

Reporting in to the Head of Compliance, this is a new position to the organization as they continue to grow.  You will have responsibility for day to day compliance monitoring and assisting in managing and performing compliance monitoring across the business, ensuring that appropriate governance, systems and controls are in place.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

•         Ensure that the business complies with its obligations under regulatory bodies of the FCA, CCA and ICO

•         Undertake compliance monitoring across the business functions

•         Assist in reviewing and implementing updates to regulation and analyse the impact on the business, making suitable recommendations in relation to any changes required

•         Assist with financial promotions compliance under the FCA's FinProm guidance

•         Support the business in ensuring it complies with its anti-fraud and other financial crime obligations

•         Identify control weaknesses and prepare recommendations for remedial work

•         Follow up on remediation work from previous compliance breaches or operational errors

•         Provide regulatory advice to the business where required

•         Monitoring of complaints processes ensuring adherence to agreed process and procedures

•         Producing MI to support all aspects of the work carried out

 

Skills & knowledge required:

 

•         Previous compliance and/or risk experience within an FCA regulated environment

•         General knowledge of FCA handbook relevant to the consumer credit sector

•         Proven ability in interpreting and applying regulatory and financial guidelines

•         Excellent communication skills

•         Ability to recognise regulatory risks related to business decisions

•         Educated to degree level or equivalent would be desirable

•         Flexible and willing to embrace change

•         Eloquent, able to explain complex sets of rules / translate regulations into clear language to all levels of staff
