Our client, a small well respected mutual building society, based in the centre on Bath are going through an exciting period of business change and are currently looking to recruit new Mortgage Administrators to their Mortgage Operations team. It’s a great opportunity to join the Society and help them on their transformation journey building a platform for sustainable growth.

The Database and Applications Analyst role provides support to resolve user or system related issues as relevant to core system and databases connectivity.  Working with the Head of IT to deliver objectives with other team members and sharing knowledge.  Liaison with members of the Society to resolve issues and help develop products.

Responsibilities of the Database and Applications Analyst include:

  • Support the IT security for Society, as relevant to corer system and databases
  • Awareness of network and infrastructure security measures in place
  • Solaris/Linux/UNIX server build, maintenance and hardening to include performing vulnerability scans and taking remedial action
  • Support for core system and databases
  • Support for core system and databases
  • Third line Application support
  • Run business processes
  • Security patching and server hardening
  • Third party management
  • SQL data extracts
  • Backup and restore
  • Upgrades and testing
  • Roadmap and strategy
  • Support for MS SQL and Oracle
  • Diagnose and resolve application issues through MS SQL

You will also manage all aspects of BCP capability and organise tests as required relevant to core system and databases.  Design and manage projects to implement change within the IT department and the business.  Perform backup and restore testing as required.  Be responsible for audit visits, supplying information and discussing issues as required as related to the core system and databases and the MI process.

Requirements for the Database and Applications Analyst role include:

  • Thorough understanding of network connectivity to all databases, file transfer protocols, configuration setting such as TNS.
  • Awareness of internal and external networking topology
  • Ability to work independently and within IT or cross-functional teams
  • Ability to consistently deliver a high level of customer service to our end users
