This is a rare opportunity to join a well-established specialist financial services provider, a market leading brand who are in a period of exciting change and growth.  They are focused on the custom / self-build sector as well as renovation and conversion products and services throughout the UK.  They act as a trusted mortgage advisor and broker as well as finding land, project insurance and guidance / inspiration on projects.

As Head of Sales & Marketing, one of the main areas of ownership will be the intermediary mortgage distribution strategy and framework, guiding and driving the generation, development and delivery of intermediary relationships and propositions. This is a wide-ranging position requiring substantial commercial acumen, proven leadership skills along with a thorough understanding of this channel and the keys contacts in the network.  Other areas of responsibility include marketing and the direct mortgage sales team.

This is an outward looking role, you will need to identify and deliver key relationships within the mortgage market, ensuring you know all of the key players and importantly what their strategies are so that these can inform the direction of travel for your team. Looking in, you will use effective coaching and personal development to ensure team members have the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding with which to perform effectively.

Key skills and experience:

  • Extensive knowledge of the specialist mortgage intermediary markets with wide ranging existing relationships with mortgage intermediaries
  • Analytical capabilities particularly in the use of varying types of market intelligence
  • The ability to develop detailed operational plans and turn them into a long-term distribution strategy
  • Demonstrable experience of the use of coaching and development skills
  • Effective cost control and budget management capabilities
  • Report writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to adapt style and interact at all levels, maintaining credibility, professionalism and gravitas
  • Innovative thinker

Whilst the organisation is based in the north, this is a role that will require extensive travel throughout England and Wales and so the candidate could be based anywhere in the UK but must be prepared to travel regularly to Edinburgh and Swindon.  Our client is looking for someone with a deep understanding of the mortgage intermediary sector who can bring existing relationships and knowledge with them.
