We are delighted to offer a unique and exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, innovative and fast-growing company within Financial Services. If you enjoy working in a vibrant organisation which embraces data science and are truly customer-focussed but want something different than the usual Banking environment, then this is an opportunity for you.  Our client is a fintech consumer lender who are well established (over 5 years old and already lent £200m+) and heading for huge growth over the coming years following significant investment.  They have big plans to disrupt and become the dominant force in UK consumer credit using a data-led approach to everything we do.

Our client is diversifying its funding model to include on-balance sheet lending, complementing its well-established and market leading P2P platform. In addition to funding diversification, balance sheet lending creates P&L diversification as the group moves from a purely capital light, fee-based revenue model to one that also incorporates a more capital intensive, spread-based revenue model. The balance sheet will be capitalised by their new private equity owner (who acquired the business in 2020) with lending funded by a mix of equity and wholesale financing.

To support the firm as it expands its funding model, LW is seeking a candidate for the newly created role of Head of Strategic Finance. In this role, reporting jointly to the CFO and COO, you will chair ALCO and be responsible for strategic financial modelling & forecasting. This will involve synthesising and stressing asset side and liability side modelling, and managing asset-liability exposures (including liquidity and interest rate risks & exposures). In addition to chairing ALCO and helping shape/drive the overall asset-liability strategy for the company, you will manage the FP&A function and be responsible for integrating ALM with group wide financial modelling and associated MI.

You will be a senior member of the team, working closely with the CFO, COO, and CRO, and a key part of stakeholder (including shareholder) management and reporting.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Strong structured credit background is essential, with significant experience in modelling warehouse financing and securitisations (as primary liability tools)
  • Strong understanding of granular (loan level) asset modelling
  • Ability to synthesise asset and liability modelling to a higher level single financial model
  • Leadership skills to mentor other members of the team and ability to manage high performing individuals
  • Ability to line manage FP&A in maintaining fully integrated, multi-entity, P&L, balance sheet and cash flow models including group consolidations
  • Knowledge of key accounting standards that impact balance sheet management

The ideal candidate will have strong modelling skills and be able to work autonomously and excited about the challenge of scaling up a consumer lending business in a data driven automated environment.  On offer is a highly competitive salary and considerable reward scheme based on company performance and targets.
