Internal Audit Manager

Our client, a specialist consumer financing business within motor finance, is recruiting a ‘hands on’ Internal Audit Manager to join the team. 


Reporting to the Managing Director, as the Internal Audit Manager you will be primarily responsible for managing the internal control system in cooperation with the Management team.  Managing a small team, you will be responsible for providing assurance of the organisation’ governance, risk management and control processes to the Board. Demonstrating throughout a disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of them. It reports functionally to the Board and administratively to the Managing Director, working in line with the group internal audit manual and work in collaboration with HQ internal audit.  Key accountabilities include:


  • Preparation and update of the risk assessment according to the methodology provided by HQ. This risk assessment is aimed to determining the multi-year (three years) audit programme and the yearly audit plan, establishing the audit missions priorities based on a risk level of the activity / process to be audited, this will allow an effective resource allocation and definition of the frequency of audit missions.
  • Definition of the annual audit plan, taking in to consideration the SMT inputs and ensure it is approved by the Board.
  • Execution of the approved annual audit plan, ensuring assignments and timelines for completion of the main activities, maintaining independency when reporting results.


Skills & experiences required:


  • Experience in auditing, preferably in an FCA regulated consumer finance business
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent), in banking, finance, accounting, business administration and able to operate confidently at a Senior Management level.
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to make complex formal presentations to senior and executive management, within limited timescales, with confidence and accuracy.
  • The ability to develop and motivate groups of staff.
  • A high degree of self-motivation and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly to change.
  • CIA certified would be desirable or willingness to achieve them.
  • Experience of fraud prevention and investigation as well as how to review and improve compliance with internal policies and international standards and regulations
