They have an exciting opportunity for an Underwriter to join their team, to be a contact for brokers for all new mortgage enquiries, ensuring that relationships are maintained and nurtured through prompt communication, to make decisions in principle, referring cases where appropriate to ensure that all decisions are made in a timely manner.
Duties will include: -
- Being responsible, within the scope of the agreed mandate, for DIP decisions.
- Demonstrate prudent lending decisions in line with the Society’s risk appetite
- Authorising within own approved mandate mortgage advances or preparing cases for referral to the Senior Underwriter/Head of Underwriting for credit committee approval.
- To liaise with customers, intermediaries, valuers and solicitors during the processing of their mortgage through to the completion and providing a high level of customer service at all times.
- Managing and maintaining the integrity of the mortgage book by lending within mandates and guidelines laid out in Policy and Procedures and contributing to Society business targets
- To actively suggest process improvements to ensure the continued productivity and quality and service provided by the team.
- To liaise with all departments where required ensuring that information is provided swiftly and accurately.
The successful candidate will:
- Be CeMap qualified
- Previously experience gained within a mortgage environment
- Experience of dealing with intermediaries or face to face mortgage customers
