Role: Mortgage Underwriter
Location: Newbury
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday 9am- 5pm (hybrid working available after probation)

One of the biggest decisions people may take is to buy their own home, committing to a mortgage to finance their purchase. Customers need reassurance that they are working with a lender who is professional, credible and has their financial wellbeing and best interests at heart.
Our Mortgage Underwriting team aim to exceed the expectations of our customers by listening and understanding their needs, whilst considering potential risks to both the customer and the business.
Working as part of a busy team, this role requires you to manage the mortgage application process, keeping all parties informed on progress, so the ability to build strong working relationships and influence others is key.
You will be able to plan and prioritise effectively, maximising your time and resources to meet agreed service levels. Remaining focussed but flexible to meet changing circumstances, you will monitor and evaluate processes, identifying options for improvement.
Essential criteria:
- Experience of working with internal and/or external customers to ensure the highest quality service experience
- Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate strong decision making skills
- Experience of working within a Financial Services environment
Desirable criteria:
- Competent in the use of Microsoft packages - Word, Excel, Outlook, Office 365
- CeMAP qualification
