Operational Risk Manager

Introduction:

Our client, a friendly, financial services mutual are seeking an Operational Risk Manager to provide support to the CRO in Operational and Business Risk control and oversight. The organisation is focused on delivering innovative and flexible mortgage products to meet the needs of the modern family across all generations and individuals not well served by the mass market.

Responsibilities of the Risk Officer include:

Risk Reporting (Control)

  • Maintain processes within the business for risk assessment, review of risk incidents and risk returns, analysis of trends and identification of emerging risks.
  • Maintain the Risk Registers and associated reporting to EGRC and DSC.
  • Perform the responsibilities of Fraud Officer (eg covering production orders) and assist with content of staff training material.

Risk Appetite    

Review and challenge the operational plans (eg Business Continuity, Cyber Security) and risk policies (including Information Security and Data Protection, Computer Security, Computer Use and Electronic Communications policies).

Prudential compliance

  • Maintain the Operational Risk Policy and related documents.
  • Monitor and interpret regulatory developments (eg SYSC, Policy Statements and Supervisory Statements) and attend relevant industry fora.

Monitoring and review

  • Undertake monitoring activity to identify failures to follow procedures or policy.
  • Undertake thematic reviews to identify weaknesses in policy or procedures.
  • Monitoring of Key Risk Indicators and setting of Early Warning Indicators.
  • Reporting to EGRC and BGRC of review outcomes and key risks identified.

Stress testing - Review and enhance the stress tests undertaken within the group.

Governance - Attendance at DSC, EGRC, and relevant project boards.

Requirements for the Risk Officer role include:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in risk, audit or compliance management function in financial services, technology or business services.
  • Experience in thematic challenge of processes, methodologies and policies
  • working towards International Certificate in Risk Management (IRM) or equivalent.
  • Able to build, manage and influence relationships with key stakeholders
