Our client, the Buckinghamshire Building Society is looking to recruit a driven, experienced individual to join their busy finance department. In this challenging and varied role, you will prepare and submit regulatory returns required by external regulators, while maintaining a robust Governance and Control framework for the Society’s Regulatory Reporting processes. The main responsibilities of the Regulatory Reporting Accountant will include:

  • To prepare and submit regulatory returns required by external regulators and validate returns produced outside of the department, which must be submitted within reporting deadlines and “right 1st time”.
  • As the Society’s regulatory subject matter expert (SME), keeping up to date and comply with developments in regulatory reporting requirements.
  • To embed a continuous improvement approach; to enhance, streamline and automate where possible the regulatory reporting processes of the Society’s accounting and reporting systems.
  • To maintain a robust Governance and Control framework for the Society’s regulatory reporting processes.
  • To line manage the Reporting Systems Analyst, tasked with the implementing, testing and issue resolution of the Society’s accounting and reporting systems.
  • To support the production of key documents published by the Society.

The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • A qualified member of an accountancy body or holder of an equivalent qualification.
  • Previous extensive experience of regulatory reporting (essential), preferably at a similar level and within a similar organisation.
  • A self-starter, able to identify and implement required changes and improvements to existing processes.
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Strong IT skills: Microsoft Excel (essential) and experience working with SQL (desirable)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to multitask, manage and prioritise own workloads while under pressure
  • The ability to work as part of a team and develop trusting relationships with relevant stakeholders
