An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Risk Analyst join a small team at East Yorkshire’s only independent Building Society. This varied role will be integral in evaluating the suitability and application of a wide range of risk policies across the business. The Risk Analyst will manage several elements of the risk management framework, including the Risk Register, incident response and preparation of management information. 

This role has significant scope to grow, bounded only by your own ambition. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running but more importantly someone who can lead and manage their own development. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Risk Director in ensuring a proportionate, but nevertheless robust, Risk Assurance framework is in place to demonstrate proper oversight, compliance and control of all business risks.
  • Conducting regular risk implementation checks to an agreed plan.
  • Carrying out thematic assessments to evaluate the adequacy of risk management frameworks’ design and the effectiveness of implementation.  Making proportionate recommendations for any remedial action, obtaining support for their implementation from colleagues, and tracking their implementation and effectiveness.
  • Maintaining and managing the implementation of the society’s incident reporting arrangements.
  • Identifying and evaluating emerging risks to operations and delivery of the strategic plan.
  • Formally reporting on the outcome of monitoring activities to the senior management team and the Board Risk Committee.

 

Required skills

  • Broad understanding of regulated retail savings and mortgages activities
  • Familiarity with the principles of risk management and working within the constraints of a risk management framework (in either a first, second or third line of defence role). A quality assurance background would be an acceptable alternative.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience in one or more of the following risk areas: credit, operational, outsourcing, conduct, financial crime, data protection.
  • Communication skills, verbal and written, o communicate effectively across the business at all levels.
