The purpose of the Server & Infrastructure SME role is to provide IT Infrastructure, Security Support and training to ensure that the employees, data, devices, systems and network are robust and adequately protected against current and future cyber threats.  At a time of tremendous change, this role will be at the heart of what they are doing to become more Cloud based and ‘cutting edge’.

The ideal candidate may be someone experienced in the role and looking for a smaller business where they can have a genuine influence or may be someone with good security and infrastructure knowledge who is looking to step up with more responsibilities.  Either way you must be passionate about ensuring the business is protected as best as possible and be able to communicate this to the rest of the business.  Ideally you will be used to working in a highly regulated environment, with extensive Microsoft 365, Server and Network exposure/experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • To ensure all faults assigned to second line support are resolved in a timely manner.
  • To continuously improve IT infrastructure, security and efficiency
  • To ensure their knowledge is up to date on the latest threats and threat intelligence
  • To ensure hardware, operating systems, software and network are securely configured and patched both internally and externally hosted/cloud
  • Responsible for firewall management and monitoring
  • Embracing change and encourage others to do so.

  • Microsoft Windows 7 / 10
  • Office 2010 / 2016 / 365
  • VMWare / Remote Desktop Services
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • Networking and Infrastructure
  • Backup Technologies
  • Office 365
  • VOIP Telephony platforms
  • SIEM Tools And Security Software
  • Good knowledge and experience of IT security principles and best practice

No two days are the same in this role, and you will be expected to fully engage with the IT team and cover a whole range of IT Support functions within the organisation.  Some travel to Datacentres and Branches may be required, and so you will need a full driving license for this role, albeit you will also be able to work significantly from home (circa 3-4 days a week).
