Every employer is not the same and WHO you work for and what that environment looks like is the difference between ANY job and a GREAT job.

At the Darlington Building Society, their mission is to develop their staff, technology, customers, brand and place themselves at the heart of the communities they serve, to make a real difference.  And here is how they are different:

  • They are a mutual, owned for over 160 years by the everyday people that save and borrow
  • Ethical approach: they will always aim to treat people with honesty and integrity, putting the interests of their members first
  • Community involvement: every year they give 5% of their profits to local organisations and charities.  Each one of the 9 branches hold a fund to aid local communities
  • Talent development: through their grow your own strategy, they are committed to your constant personal development.  Their approach to learning and development is one that gives people choice – of job content, resources and careers paths
  • A flexible working environment (full or part time) for all staff and great work life balance

In essence, the Darlington Building Society is an independent building society that strives to create a feeling of pride amongst its staff, members and local communities.  And they are winning a lot of awards so must be doing something right!

As the Treasury Manager you will oversee and manage the effective day to day operation of the Treasury Team, playing a key role in managing treasury to meet the Society’s funding, liquidity and hedging strategies; optimising commercials and returns within policy and risk parameters.  A key responsibility includes managing the timely production of management information required internally by the Society’s management ALCO, consolidation of the ALCO reporting pack and circulation to voting members on a monthly basis.

If all the above makes you think they could be your next employer, you need to be self-motivated, adaptable, logical, and able to delegate effectively, with a hands-on approach and ideally hold a relevant (treasury or accountancy) qualification (ACMT, CertBALM, ACA) or equivalent and have the following attributes.
