Every employer is not the same and WHO you work for and what that environment looks like is the difference between ANY job and a GREAT job.  At the Newbury Building Society, they really do believe they are different, and we would like to tell you why before we tell you about the job.

  • They are a mutual - owned by the everyday people that save and borrow with them
  • They strive every day to make their experience better - believing wholeheartedly in putting the customer first
  • They are committed to constant personal development
  • They provide a flexible working environment for staff and great work life balance
  • They are completely committed to giving back to the community – they support local charity and community projects both with time and financially.
  • They feel strongly about the financial education of the next generation and currently support 20 local schools
  • They are winning a lot of awards, so must be doing something right

As the Treasury Manager, you will oversee and manage the effective operation of the Treasury team.  Reporting to the Finance Director the Treasury Manager will have responsibility for the day to day management of the Society’s liquidity, wholesale funding and interest rate positions, optimising commercial performance and returns whilst ensuring the Society operates at all times in accordance with regulatory requirements and Board risk appetite.  The Treasury manager will also provide strategic analysis and commercial support to the Finance Director, so you will have a real strategic impact on the performance and direction of the business as they look to significantly grow their balance sheet over the next few years.

As risk champion, you will manage and understand the risks and controls in accordance with the Risk Management framework, adhering to relevant policies and procedures . You will have the opportunity to lead, coach, develop and empower your team

If all the above makes you think they could be your great employer, all you need to apply is to be:

  • An analytical thinker with the ability to provide strategic insight
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Advanced excel skills and a high degree of numeric accuracy
  • Natural curiosity and ability to take ownership
  • Experience of working within a Treasury team
  • An adaptable individual who is resilient to change
  • Commercial awareness
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively

It would be advantageous if you are a qualified accountant and ideally studying towards Association of Corporate Treasurers qualification, but that is not essential.  It is more important that you have strong commercial acumen and intellectual curiosity and want to work in a ‘hands on’ role within a customer focussed lender.  This is a great opportunity to work for a customer focussed, local mortgage lender.
