Introduction:

We are delighted to be partnering with our client - a medium sized business in the financial services sector based in Suffolk. They are recruiting a newly revised role in their team, an Operational Resilience Lead. They are open to people working this role as a full time or part time position and also open to relevant experience from any sector. 

The main purpose of this Operational Resilience Lead role is to develop and improve the organisation’s operational resilience framework, ensuring key risks are identified, managed, and reported. You will support daily risk monitoring and help senior management meet regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop, review, and coordinate implementation of the Operational Resilience Policy, framework, and action plans.
  • Establish and facilitate an operational resilience working group involving functional managers across the Society.
  • Ensure Important Business Services (IBSs) are mapped, considering people, processes, premises, data, systems, and third-party suppliers.
  • Support and train process owners in conducting business impact analysis (BIA) and identifying IBSs.
  • Identify, track, and document key assets essential for delivering resilient services (e.g., IT systems, personnel, third parties, data).
  • Collaborate with technology teams to align Business Impact Assessments and IBSs with Disaster Recovery Plans (DRPs) Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) and system architecture.
  • Maintain a master process plan to track all operational resilience activities.
  • Coordinate and lead scenario testing for severe but plausible disruption events.
  • Prepare and present reports on resilience capabilities and risks to the COO, Board, committees, regulators, and auditors.
  • Chair the Operational Resilience Governance Working Group and promote consistent application of resilience principles across the Society.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of risk management
  • Strategic, critical, and analytical thinking and pragmatic problem solving
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to interact and elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including management, other departments, and suppliers.
  • A keen interest in cyber security is essential.
