Quality Assurance Associate (Mortgage Underwriting)
West Midlands - Hybrid 2 to 3 days per week at home following probation
Salary to £35K + bonus & benefits

Our client is a well-established lender seeking an experienced manual mortgage underwriter to join its Lending team as a Quality Assurance Associate.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mortgage underwriter who has held a mandate to make lending decisions and is now looking to develop their career in a quality assurance environment.

Working closely with the Head of Lending and as part of a small mortgage underwriting team, you will provide first-line oversight of underwriting quality.

Duties will include:

  • Reviewing mortgage applications and underwriting decisions to assess quality, consistency and compliance with lending policy and procedures.
  • Checking that underwriting decisions are within policy limits and appropriately documented.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all sampling and QA activity to provide a clear audit trail.
  • Identifying trends, errors, discrepancies and areas of risk within the underwriting process and raising these with the Head of Lending.
  • Providing constructive feedback and supporting coaching to improve underwriting quality and consistency.

The successful individual will possess:

  • Proven experience as a manual mortgage underwriter.
  • CeMAP qualified, or willing to study towards the CeMAP qualification.
  • Sound judgement and the ability to independently assess underwriting decisions against policy, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience of providing feedback or coaching to colleagues would be advantageous.

Our client offers a hybrid approach, with the role initially based at the West Midlands HO and, after probation, the opportunity to work 2 - 3 days from home each week.

If you are an experienced manual mortgage underwriter with a lending mandate and are looking for a QA role, this could be the opportunity to use your underwriting expertise in a new capacity.

If this sounds exciting to you, please apply today!
