Do Recruiters prioritise clients over candidates?

Before I started working in recruitment I had a preconceived idea of how recruitment agencies work and who their priorities lie with…….the client obviously!  And sure, this is probably true for many recruitment agencies, but at Ultimate Banking we’re different, we’re not your average recruiters, and here’s why:

The relationship with our clients is extremely important, without them asking us to work on their roles we don’t have a business! Equally however, without the buy in and trust of candidates, and regardless of the volume of roles we’re working on, the campaign just wouldn’t end in a successful placement – so with every role we recruit for we put equal time and resource into both candidate and client.

The journey of a new role involves initially taking the time to fully understand what a suitable candidate looks like to our client, where and how the role fits into their existing team/dept, what their expectations are around timescales for interviews and placements and any specific requirements they have. Once we have all the details and information to create an engaging advert, our focus then turns to the candidate.

From the very first interaction and conversation we aim to provide candidates with a supportive and seamless recruitment journey, which involves being available throughout the process from initially providing CV guidance and advice, to providing a full and detailed overview of the role and company you’re potentially going to be joining. We’re available to address any questions or concerns you have, we keep you updated throughout, we arrange and provide preparation support for all interviews with the company and ensure we get that very important, but often elusive, feedback at the end of the process.

As the Account Manager for the Newbury Building Society I handle all their external recruitment needs (excluding IT roles) sourcing and pre-screening candidates for both their branch network and Head Office. Many of the candidates I speak to have never worked in banking or financial services, for some this might be their first full time role since finishing education, others are returning to work after taking some time out for various reasons, some even come out of retirement!  So whether you’re looking for a new role, your first role or a complete change of career I believe it’s my responsibility to help you navigate the process, make sure you’re ready and prepared for your interview and ultimately help you feel less daunted by the whole process of finding a job, which let’s be honest can feel like a full time job in itself!

So at UB we genuinely believe our candidate relationships are equally important as our client relationships.
