Andrew Craddock

Senior Board Advisor

I am Andrew, Senior Board Advisor to Ultimate Banking and Ultimate Search. I have spent more than 40 years working across financial services, including 12 years as a Chief Executive within the mutual sector, most recently leading Darlington Building Society and, before that, Buckinghamshire Building Society.

My earlier career included senior leadership roles with Allied Irish Bank GB and First Trust Bank, where I became Chief Operating Officer with responsibility across strategy, operations, transformation, risk and regulatory oversight. Alongside my executive career, I have also held Non-Executive, trustee and committee roles across banking, pensions and the charitable sector.

Having worked both within and alongside Boards for much of my career, I understand the realities facing leaders in the sector: balancing commercial performance with member and customer needs, responding to regulation, managing transformation and building the capability required for the future.

At Ultimate, my role is to bring that experience into client conversations, offering insight, constructive challenge and a practical understanding of what effective leadership looks like. I support both businesses across executive and board search, succession, organisational capability and the wider people challenges affecting the mutual and specialist lending sectors.
