Our client is an established and successful specialist mortgage lender, based in the Northwest of England, serving customers across the UK through broker channels. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Financial Accountant to join the Finance team and play a key role across financial reporting, technical accounting, regulatory reporting, tax and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating the preparation of the Annual Report & Accounts.
- Preparing and maintaining technical accounting assessments and methodologies across loan impairment, effective interest rate adjustments, financial instruments and hedge accounting.
- Leading relationships with auditors & coordinating audit requirements.
- Supporting annual P&L and balance sheet budgeting and the 5-year planning process.
- Preparing and presenting MI & financial insights at committee meetings.
- Coordinating the submission of corporation tax and VAT liabilities.
- Preparing regulatory returns.
- Supporting second- and third-line assurance and audit activities.
The successful candidate will possess:
- A qualified accountancy qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
- Relevant post-qualification experience within financial accounting, statutory reporting or a similar environment.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience of financial reporting and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to challenge and improve existing processes.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders, auditors and external advisers.
- Experience within a bank, building society, mortgage lender or wider financial services environment would be particularly relevant, especially where you have exposure to statutory reporting, technical accounting, regulatory reporting, financial instruments, impairment or financial services regulation.
