This is an exciting time to be joining our client, a well-known, highly respected and customer focussed local financial services provider. In a period of positive change and development, they are looking to appoint an experienced compliance professional to further bolster their management team. This role will play an important part in further developing the company, bringing fresh thinking and appropriate challenge. Managing a relatively small team of 4, this is an enabling role, promoting a positive compliance culture and allowing risk to be managed proactively.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance
- Overall responsibility for the development of a coordinated approach to governance and compliance, including conduct risk and ensuring fair outcomes for customers, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements
- Maintain and enhance the Compliance Framework and develop a risk‐based Compliance Monitoring Plan
- Monitor compliance and report compliance breaches or weaknesses and support the business in addressing these
- Maintain and develop compliance reporting and compile MI to the Executive and Board/Board Committees, ensuring that this is adequate and timely
- Ensure compliance approval of all marketing literature, adverts and material
- Maintain awareness of, and communicate regulatory initiatives/changes, providing advice/support in their implementation
- Oversee training throughout the organisation on compliance matters
- Oversee and maintain the regulatory requirements of the Senior Management Framework
Financial Crime
- Day to day responsibility for Money Laundering Reporting liaising with the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) as appropriate
- Draft the annual Money Laundering Reporting Officers report
- Maintain and develop systems and controls relating to financial crime including transaction monitoring, fraud and its prevention
- Monitor day to day operations to ensure compliance with the relevant financial crime and money laundering regulations including the investigation and reporting of any internal suspicious activity reports

The ideal candidate:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent preferably with a relevant professional qualification
- Proven experience in a senior compliance role within a financial services organisation
- Demonstrable understanding of regulatory issues including GDPR
- The ability to challenge constructively and positively; high level communication skill
- Commercial acumen and strategic thinker
- Strong people leadership skills; inclusive and consultative
